Season Ends For Men's Basketball in Conference Tourney

OWENSBORO, KY. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s basketball team saw its season end with a 74-60 loss to Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday afternoon in the first round of the 2010 Great Lakes Valley Conference Tournament in Owensboro, Ky.

The Tritons, who were seeded third in the West Division, end their season at 12-16, while UW-Parkside, seeded fourth in the North Division, improves to 10-18 overall and advances to tomorrow’s quarterfinal at top-seeded Kentucky Wesleyan.

Sophomore Zach Redel scored 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the Tritons, while senior Jeremy Brown ended his career with 14 points, netting 4-of-5 three-pointers.

The Rangers held a 31-28 halftime lead and outscored the Tritons, 15-5, in the first nine minutes of the second half, taking a 46-33 lead with just under 11 minutes to play.

A Brown three-pointer at the 7:34 mark brought UMSL back to within 51-46 before the Tritons cut it to five on two different occasions, but would get no closer.

UMSL finished the game shooting 45.8 percent, including a 55 percent clip in the first half, while Wisconsin-Parkside shot 46.8 percent and held a 29-26 rebounding advantage.

Sophomore Beaumont Beasley added 10 points and five assists, while junior Eddie White also finished with 10 points.
