ST. LOUIS, MO., February 18, 2010 - Senior Jeremy Brown scored a game-high 25 points, while grabbing a career-high 15 rebounds in helping the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team to a 55-39 victory Thursday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The victory snapped a 10-game losing skid by the Tritons and improves the squad to 11-15 overall and 5-12 in the GLVC. Missouri S&T slips to 7-19 and 3-14 in the league with the loss.
Brown connected on 10-of-15 shots from the field, while sophomore guard Beaumont Beasley added 13 points, six rebounds and five assists for the Tritons.
Beasley and Brown combined for 19 first half-points as UMSL claimed a 27-17 halftime lead. Missouri S&T jumped out to an early 8-2 lead, but a 13-5 UMSL spurt capped off by a three-point play by Brown gave the Tritons a 15-10 advantage they would not relinquish with 9:17 on the clock.
UMSL finished the game shooting 42.9 percent and held a 38-33 rebounding advantage. Defensively the Tritons limited the Miners to 30 percent shooting, including a 0-for-8 effort from three-point range.
UMSL closes out the regular season Saturday, hosting Maryville at 3 p.m.
