Drury Hands Women's Basketball 94-82 Setback

SPRINGFIELD, MO., February 13, 2010 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s basketball team closed out a four-game roadtrip with a 94-82 loss at Drury Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.

The Panthers’ Lindsay Ballweg led all scorers with a career-high 33 points to help the home team improve to 21-6 overall and 13-3 in the GLVC.

UMSL slipped to 10-15 and 6-10 in the league.

Sophomore Caitlyn Moody led the Tritons with 18 points, while junior Kelcy Hulbert added a season-high 16 points, going 6-for-7 from the field. Senior Kristi White followed with 15 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore KeAmber Vaughn pulled down a team-best nine rebounds and scored nine points.

Drury, which held a 44-39 halftime lead, shot 45 percent from the field, and held a slim 42-41 rebounding advantage. The Tritons shot 39.4 percent and edged out the Panthers on the offensive boards, 12-8, while outscoring Drury, 12-9, in second chance points.

UMSL pulled within 61-54 with 12:42 left on a White jumper before Drury pushed the lead into double-figures for good on two free throws with 10:49 left before stretching the lead as high as 19 points (88-69 with 2:49 remaining).

UMSL returns to action Thursday, hosting Missouri S&T at 5:30 p.m. in a GLVC contest that could help determine second place in the West Division standings.
