Women's Golf Takes Title at Lewis Mixed Fall Classic

LOCKPORT, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team won its second straight meet, shooting a 657 to claim the team title at the Lewis Mixed Fall Classic, held Monday and Tuesday at the Prairie Bluff Golf Course.

Senior Amie Koerner and freshman Shweta Galande finished in a three-way tie along with Quincy’s Carrie Lambkin to earn medalist honors, each firing a two-round score of 161.

Koerner, who shot an 81 yesterday, finished with an 80 today, while Galande shot rounds of 79 and 82. The duo helped UMSL to rounds of 326 and 331 to finish 26 strokes ahead of second place finisher Quincy (683). Lewis finished third (688), while Illinois-Springfield was fifth (705).

Junior Clara Vila gave the Tritons a third top-five finisher, coming in fourth with a 164 (81-83).

Also for UMSL, freshman Chelsea Kellogg (85-86 171) was 10th, while junior Carly Ball (87-88 175) was 13th.

The top two females and males scores of each team were then combined to crown a mixed champion. UMSL also claimed that title with Koerner and Galande from the women’s side and Matt Rau and Matt McKiernan from the men’s side combining for a 621. Lewis finished second with a 624.

UMSL will return to competition on the links in the spring.
