EVANSVILLE, IND., September 21, 2009 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team fired a final round score of 324 to earn a seventh place finish at the Screaming Eagles Golf Classic hosted by Southern Indiana Monday.
The Tritons, who shot a 341 in yesterday’s first round, finished with a team score of 665 at the Cambridge Golf Club.
Indianapolis won the 11-team event, finishing with a 623 on the 72-par, 5,862-yard course. UMSL finished just one stroke behind sixth place Bellarmine (664) and four strokes behind fifth place Lindenwood (661).
Individually, freshman Shweta Galande finished 13th after shooting a 74 today, 10 strokes better than yesterday’s 84 to record a 158. Senior Amie Koerner fired a 163 (82-81) to tie for 22nd, while junior Clara Vila tied for 28th with a 165 (84-81). Senior Leslie Fischer (91-88 179; 51st) and junior Carly Ball (96-92 188; 60th) rounded out the Tritons’ top five.
Freshman Brittany Rodgers also competed, shooting a 187 (96-91) to finish in a tie for 58th.
Indianapolis’ Lyndsay McBride claimed medalist honors with a 148 (74-74).
UMSL returns to action Saturday and Sunday, hosting the Midwest Shootout/GLVC Fall Preview at Annbriar Golf Club in Waterloo, Ill.
