EUREKA, MO. – Senior Clara Vila of the University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team fired two rounds of 37 for an overall score of 74 to claim medalist honors in the Maryville Women’s Fall Warm-up Classic Thursday at the Aberdeen Golf Club.
Vila finished two strokes over par on the 5,917-yard course, finishing one stroke better than Maryville’s Kayla Eckelkamp, who came in second with a 75.
Vila helped UMSL to a team score of 329, 41 strokes over par to finish fourth in the nine team outing. Rend Lake CC shot a 317 to lead all team scores. Lindenwood came in second with a 319, while Maryville edged the Tritons by four strokes with a 325 team effort.
Also for UMSL, senior Amie Koerner tied for 12th (42-39 81), while Brittany Rodgers tied for 18th (42-44 86) in her collegiate debut. Chelsea Kellogg tied for 27th (44-44 88) and senior Leslie Fischer (46-37 93) tied for 36th to round out the Tritons’ scoring.
UMSL returns to action September 13-14 at the Drury Fall Shootout.
