MESA, ARIZ. - Freshman Shweta Galande of the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team cut three strokes off her first two round scores of 90, finishing with a 77 on the third round Friday at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships.

After 54 holes of play, Galande sits in a seven-way tie for 36th place with a 237.

Newberry College's Maria Luz Besio continues to pace the 72-individual field, recording a two-under par 69 on her third round and owns a score of 208 on the 71-par, 6,159-yard course.

Galande began on the back nine with a triple bogey and finished five strokes over before a solid front nine, in which she was just one over, carding one birdie, six pars and two bogeys.

The championships, which are being held at Longbow Golf Club, consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. All participants will compete throughout the entire 72 holes of competition.

The fourth and final round begins tomorrow morning with Galande teeing off at 7:45 a.m. (PST) on hole number 10.
