May 13, 2010MESA, ARIZ. - Freshman Shweta Galande of the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's golf team carded another 80 on her second round at the NCAA Division II Women's Golf Championships Thursday, but dipped from a tie for 34th place to a five-way tie for 42nd place with a total score of 160.
Newberry College's Maria Luz Besio continues to pace the 72-individual field, recording a three-under par on her second round and owns a score of 139 on the 71-par, 6,159-yard course.
Galande began on the back nine, shooting a seven-over par 43, finishing with four pars, four bogey's and one double-bogey. She improved on the front nine, paring seven holes and finishing with just two bogey's.
The championships, which are being held at Longbow Golf Club, consist of both team and individual competition conducted concurrently. All participants will compete throughout the entire 72 holes of competition.
Round three begins tomorrow morning although specific tee times have not yet been announced.
