SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team shaved five strokes off yesterday’s score, but still remain in ninth place after the first 36 holes at the 2010 NCAA East Regional Monday at the Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo.
The Tritons, making the program's first-ever post-season appearance, finished round two with a 326 and totaled with yesterday’s 331, sit with an overall score of 657.
Grand Valley State remains in the lead with a 605, followed by California (Pa.) with a 613, Indianapolis (616), Drury (623), Southern Indiana (638), Ashland (639), Ferris State (650) and Northern Kentucky (655).
Freshman Shweta Galande and junior Clara Vila are tied for 16th place individually with 156’s. Galande posted another round of 78 today, while Vila improved her score by two strokes to record a 77.
Senior Aime Koerner sits in 37th place after an 84 today, while senior Leslie Fischer is in 48th place, shooting an 87 on round two.
Also for the Tritons, junior Carly Ball is in 49th place, carding a 95 on her second 18.
The final 18 holes will be played tomorrow. The top three teams and the top three individuals not with an advancing team qualify for the national tournament, held May 12-15 in Mesa, Ariz.
