SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women’s golf team struggled through its first 18 holes at the 2010 NCAA East Regional Sunday at the Rivercut Golf Course in Springfield, Mo.
The Tritons finished 43 strokes over par with a 331 and sit in a tie for eighth place with Northern Kentucky.
Grand Valley State fired a 304 to sit atop the nine teams, followed by California (Pa.) with a 308, Indianapolis (309), Ashland (316), Southern Indiana (317), Drury (319) and Ferris State (328).
Freshman Shweta Galande is tied for 12th individually, shooting a 78, while junior Clara Vila finished one stroke behind with a 79 for 20th place. Senior Amie Koerner is tied for 28th place with an 82, while junior Carly Ball rounds out the scoring with a 92 and is in 47th place.
Also for the Tritons, senior Leslie Fischer carded a 93 for 48th place.
UMSL still has 36 holes to play, including 18 each tomorrow and Tuesday. The top three teams and the top three individuals not with an advancing team qualify for the national tournament, held May 12-15 in Mesa, Ariz.
