Tritons Take Third, Vila Medals in Arizona

PHOENIZ, ARIZ. - Junior Clara Vila earned medalist honors, firing a two-round score of 145 (70-75) to earn medalist honors at The Shootout in Aguila, hosted by Lewis, at the Aguila Golf Club.

Vila's score bettered 43 other individuals, including top-ranked and defending national champion Lindsay McBride (76-78 154) of Indianapolis.

As a team, the Tritons finished third, shooting rounds of 335 and 318 for a two-day score of 666.

Drury won the team title with a 613 (306-307).

Also for UMSL, freshman Shweta Galande finished in 12th place (87-75 162), while senior Amie Koener earned a 21st place finish (84-86 170). Junior Carly Ball (98-95 193) and freshman Chelsea Kellogg (94-100 194) rounded out the scoring and placed 41st and 42nd, respectively.

Competing as individuals, senior Leslie Fischer produced a 26th place finish, recording a 173 (88-85), while freshman Samantha Pelc fired a first day score of 96 before withdrawing.
