GAME TWO
O’FALLON, MO. – Visiting Wisconsin-Parkside took a pair of games from the University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team Wednesday afternoon at TR Hughes Ballpark. The Rangers held off a seventh inning rally to win the opener, 4-3, before taking game two, 4-0.
The Tritons plated three runs in the bottom of the seventh to come up just short in the first game.
Senior Scott Lavelock doubled down the right field line with one out to score senior Ryan Ayers, for the first run. Senior Cole Willams followed with a single up the middle to score junior Andy Ford, to trim the deficit to 4-2. Senior Eric Kuntz then grounded out to second, scoring Lavelock for the final score, 4-3.
Sophomore Zach Sheets went 2-for-3 at the plate with a double, while Williams was 2-for-4.
Senior Dan O’Heron took the loss for UMSL, allowing two earned runs on eight hits.
UMSL managed just three hits in the nightcap with senior Nico Gregali collecting two of those.
Sophomore J.C. Schute took the loss on the mound, giving up three earned runs on six hits in five innings of work.
The Tritons fall to 17-25 overall, while UW-P improves to 6-34.
UMSL returns to action tomorrow at Missouri S&T in a pair of Great Lakes Valley Conference make-up games.
