Screaming Eagles Defeat Tritons Baseball, 11-3

EVANSVILLE, IND. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team lost an 11-3 decision at Southern Indiana Friday night in the first game of a four-game series against the Screaming Eagles.

The Tritons recorded just five hits in the contest, while Southern Indiana pounded out 14 hits.

UMSL falls to 15-22 overall, including 9-14 in the Great Lakes Valley Conference, while USI improves to 32-13 and 20-4 in the league.

Seniors Ryan Ayers and Mark Sanders each recorded a pair of hits, while Ayers also had a run scored and an RBI. Sanders scored two runs.

Senior Brady Decker took the loss, allowing seven runs on eight hits in four innings.

UMSL scored single runs in the first, third and eighth innings, while Southern Indiana put four runs on the board in the first and sixth innings and scored three times in the fourth.

The series continues tomorrow with a doubleheader at 12 p.m.
