Baseball Takes First Two From Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, MO., April 25, 2010 – Senior Erik Walk went 4-for-8 with two RBIs to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team to 13-10 and 2-1 wins at Rockhurst Sunday afternoon in the start of a four-game Great Lakes Valley Conference series.

The Tritons improve their ledger to 12-34 overall and 8-19 in the GLVC, while Rockhurst drops to 24-21 overall and 10-14 in the league.

Junior Kenny Bechaud added three hits and seven RBIs.

UMSL out-hit the Hawks, 19-15, in the two contests combined.

Junior Brandon Fear picked up the win in the opener, working six innings, while junior Kevin Sullivan recorded the save.

Then in game two, freshman Drew Standefer broke a 1-1 game in the top of the seventh inning with a one-run double down the left field line, scoring junior John Tierney for the game-winner.

Senior Kenny Ford was the winning pitcher on the hill, allowing just one run on four hits in six innings, while striking out four.

Sullivan tallied his second save of the day.

The series concludes tomorrow with a 1 p.m. doubleheader.
