ST. LOUIS, MO. – Senior Erik Walk delivered two home runs, including the game-winner to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team to an 11-10 victory over Webster University Tuesday afternoon.
Walk added three RBIs as the Tritons improved to 9-23 overall. Junior Manny Flores also tallied two hits, including a three-run homer and finished with four RBIs.
UMSL put 10 hits on the board. Senior Michael Hoosen added a pair of hits.
The Tritons spotted the Gorloks (13-6) three early runs in the first inning before countering in the bottom half of the frame. UMSL then crossed the plate three more times in the second inning and once in the third for a quick 7-3 lead. Webster got one back in the fourth before another three-run inning pushed the lead to 10-4.
Then in the top of the sixth, Webster knotted the game at 10-10, scoring six runs on three hits, including a grand slam.
Walk provided the solo shot game winner in the bottom of the sixth.
Sophomore Austin Schuler picked the win in relief, while senior Ryne Moleski earned the save, allowing just one hit in two innings.
UMSL returns to Great Lakes Valley Conference action this weekend in a four-game series against Maryville. The Tritons travel across town on Saturday before entertaining the Saints for a pair on Sunday.
