ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men’s soccer team lost a 1-0 decision to visiting Bellarmine Sunday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference action at Don Dallas Field.
The loss drops the Tritons to 5-4-1 on the season, including 1-4 in the GLVC. Bellarmine, which won its first league game of the year, improves to 3-4-2 and 1-3-1 in the league.
UMSL had multiple opportunities to score, but failed to find the back of the net in 10 shot attempts, six of which landed on target. Bellarmine also took 10 shots, landing six on goal.
The Knights put the lone goal of the game on the board just 16 minutes into the contest on a header from Grant Wheeler on the close right wing.
Junior Blair Spencer and sophomore Jack McKenna paced UMSL with two shots each, while senior Mike Bober played all 90 minutes in between the posts, recording five saves.
UMSL will enjoy a week off before returning to action next Sunday (Oct. 5), hosting Missouri S&T in a GLVC contest beginning at 2:30 p.m.
